Prepare for the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl 2019

The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl team at Sequoyah Middle School is an academic club for 5-10 students. The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is a statewide competition in which teams of students compete in a “quiz bowl”- type contest to correctly answer trivia questions about books nominated for the annual Georgia Children’s Book Award. This dedicated team will have a great time at our 2020 competition at Arabia Mountain High School in January. We will persevere and answer lots of questions.  Every team member will carry his/her own weight and read lots of books.

Click Here to get the complete NEW 2019-20 middle school book list. All of the books are in our school library. Books are available for all students to read now!

Use Quizlet at home and school (you don't have to log in) and practice answering questions - there are flashcards and a matching game students can play for speed practice. If you have a log in, you can create your own study questions - which is a really good idea! I will show you how to set up an account to practice at home on your own or at school with team members.  Remember to stick to the format, "In the book, __, " and include the page number where you find the answer (also check your spelling, punctuation, and capitalization since others will use your questions). There are questions posted for each book.

We will compete in the HRRB on the last Saturday of January in 2020.  We look forward to your continued participation and leadership as we prepare for the 2019-2020 HRRB.
