The D.E.A.R. Project Challenge for drop everything and read is a reading challenge. How many fiction and non-fiction books can you read this school year?  We know that it is important to read books that interest you, so we are challenging you to select books to read for pleasure. D.E.A.R. time is your chance to explore a variety of subjects and genres of books of personal interest. D.E.A.R. time will help increase your knowledge base, expand your vocabulary, and improve your writing skills.  Not to mention, we will reward the class that has the most active participants!   Accept the challenge and submit your reading logs once you've completed reading your books.

Read during D.E.A.R. time and on your personal time.
  1. Once you have completed reading your book(s) complete and submit your reading log/choice board/project based activity to your teacher.
  2. Take a picture of the book cover you are reading and hashtag #thedearprojectchallengesms on all Social Media platforms.
  3. Submit a short 1-2 minute video recommending your book to other students.  (Please make sure the sound and images are clear). The message should include the image of you holding the book, the title and author or the book, a brief synopsis or introduction to the book which will serve as a commercial during morning announcements.

Join The D.E.A.R. Project Challenge today!
Send your questions or your video submission to Ms. Spence.
