Updates Concerning the Breakfast and Lunch Program
On September 21st, any student that has not turned in an application for the 2015-2016 school year will be removed from the lunch program and you will have to pay for both breakfast and lunch. Contact your grade level team leader to see if you are on the list of students that did not turn in a application for this school year.

Share Your Career!
Middle school is the perfect time for students to think about what they want to be when they grow up. We need our Sequoyah Community, during our Annual Career Day, to help inspire our students by volunteering your time to share with us the educational requirements and job duties of your career.   Please contact Ms Damrich for more information @ 678-676-7928

Congratulations to Luis Montoy and Nancy Tran, 2015 Recipients of The Cross Keys Foundation Award

The Cross Keys Foundation had its start as a grass-roots volunteer effort in early 2009. A few community members became aware of the neglected conditions at Cross Keys High School and decided it was time for a change. Upon discovering the underlying reasons for the neglect, the volunteers realized there were fundamental challenges affecting all Cross Keys attendance area schools and decided to do something about it.

The Cross Keys Foundation continues to support efforts for the seven schools of the Cross Keys High School attendance area. These are Cross Keys High School, Sequoyah Middle, Oakcliff Elementary, Cary Reynolds Elementary, Dresden Elementary, Montclair Elementary, and Woodward Elementary.

The mission of the Cross Keys Foundation is to promote “Every Opportunity for Every Child” in the Cross Keys area of North DeKalb by direct classroom support, scholarships for graduating seniors, special projects, and advocacy.

The middle school scholars are chosen based on their potential to be involved in leadership roles at their high school or in their community as they continue with their education.

Science Matters

The Science Department would like to congratulate Thuan Tran and Nicolas Galtere.  These exceptional students were recognized recently at the 1st annual Science Torch Awards for placing in the DCSS Regional Science Fair.

Sequoyah's first DCSD 2015' chess experience was a great success. Although we did not bring home a novice, intermediate, or expert medal; Jaiyonna Darity and Jyles Trinidad represented Sequoyah well. Great Job ladies! A special thank you goes out to all of our club members this year for excellent attendance: Jocelyn Meraz, Marco Bravo, Jyles Trinidad, Quinci Saunders, Jaiyonna Darity, Michael Batchelor, Mekhi Holmes, Roy Canaca, and Mary He.
